Questions
people ask

Is FlockHopper free?

Yes. Every navigation and camera-avoidance feature is free on web, iOS, and Android. No feature is gated behind a purchase. The only purchases today are optional one-time tips that help cover hosting costs.

Do you log my location or my personal data?

No. There is no account, so we don't know who you are, and routes are never saved. The About page explains what each request sends, and the privacy policy lists every outside service each app touches.

What devices are supported?

iPhone on iOS 17.0 or later, with CarPlay. Android phones on Google Play, with Android Auto. Both apps have the same features. An active internet connection is required for route calculation and the first camera-dataset download.

Why does the app ask for location access?

For turn-by-turn directions and camera alerts. The app reads your location only while it is open, unless you turn on Always On, which uses background location to start camera alerts when you begin driving. Your starting point goes to our routing servers to build a route and is then discarded. Searches send the area you are searching to the search provider. We never sell location data or use it for ads. You can revoke location access at any time in your phone's settings, and the privacy policy lists every place your location goes.

Is this legal?

Driving on public roads of your own choosing is legal. FlockHopper is an educational and awareness tool that shows you where publicly documented cameras are; it is not designed, intended, or promoted for use in evading law enforcement.

A route looks wrong or takes a strange detour.

Camera-avoidance routes intentionally trade a small detour for reduced exposure, so they often look different from a standard route. If a route looks broken (e.g., goes the wrong way down a one-way street or crosses impassable terrain), please email us with your approximate origin and destination so we can investigate.

How do I request a refund for a tip?

Refunds are handled by the store you bought through. On iOS, request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, use the Google Play refund process. FlockHopper does not process refunds directly.

The app is crashing or the map won't load.

Force-quit and reopen the app, confirm you have an active internet connection, and make sure you're running the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. If the issue persists, email us with your OS version, phone model, and a description of what you were doing when the problem happened.

Data

Camera data corrections

Camera data comes from publicly available, crowdsourced sources including DeFlock.me and OpenStreetMap. The best way to correct a missing, wrong, or removed camera is to submit the update to DeFlock.me. Corrections flow back into FlockHopper on the next dataset refresh. If you're not sure how to do this, email us and we'll help.

Deleting your data

FlockHopper does not maintain user accounts and does not retain personal data on our servers. To remove on-device data, uninstall the app or clear local storage for dontgetflocked.com in your browser settings. For details, see the privacy policy.

Feedback

Report a bug or request a feature
